Currently, at least 7 out of every 100 workers live with diabetes and high blood pressure, and 11 out of every 100 have altered glucose levels.
This information was revealed by an evaluation that was carried out on 16,000 workers over a year, through the Welfare Conferences of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE).
"It was detected that 73% of the collaborators had overweight problems, 8% of the women presented signs of alterations in the breasts and 18% of the men, complications in the prostate," the director of ISSSTE highlighted in a statement. Luis Antonio Ramírez Pineda.
He also noted that beneficiaries who presented health risks scheduled medical appointments mainly in the area of family medicine, with 92.4%; gynecology and obstetrics with 4.4% and nutrition only with 2.3%.

In 2018, 8.6 million people reported living with diabetes (10.3% of those surveyed), which represents an increase of 2.2 million compared to 2012.
The states that had the highest percentage of people with diabetes are: Campeche (14%), Hidalgo (12.8%), Tamaulipas (12.8%), Mexico City (12.7%) and Nuevo León (12.6%).
Added to the poor diet is the lack of physical activity: 29% of those surveyed indicated that they exercise less than 2.5 hours per week.
17.9% said they exercise less than 7 hours per week, and another 16.1% less than 14 hours.
ENSANUT also revealed that in Mexico, 55.5% of households suffer from food insufficiency, which “is very serious because we are talking about people who have to modify the quantity (of food) they consume and its quality. Many of them do not eat their three meals a day, since they deprive themselves of it to give food to the children,” said the head of the National Institute of Public Health, Juan Rivera.
The survey indicated that 80% of the Mexican population has access to social security, and that 43.4% do not use public services.
